A recent study found that fishing is having a detrimental impact on East Africa's coral reefs.

This is the first study of its kind and scale to be conducted in East Africa’s coral reefs and provides a worrying insight into the region’s fish stocks... “There are essentially no stock assessments in East Africa, which is a problem because you don’t know what the status of the sustainability is without these,” Tim McClanahan [study author and senior conservation zoologist at the Wildlife Conservation Society] said.

The study found that an estimated 70% of coral reefs off Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique have fish stocks below sustainable levels.

Do you think fish stocks should be more intensively monitored and managed?
